Old lion Louis Moholo-Moholo met the extraordinarily talented young tiger, pianist Livio Minafra for an improvisation on built on a foundation of intimacy. Individually their creativity and technical wells were deeply resourceful, and the results of their meeting proved resplendent with dynamical drama and emotional joy.

For Louis and Livio a natural empathy. An old master with an intuitive and accomplished young equal. Their performance ranged from hushed and delicate to highly charged and exuberant, from free-form to lyrical and anthemic – and reflected the spirit of that small group of South African musical exiles which made such a profound and lasting impression after it landed in Europe in the ‘60s.
